As part of his Marie Jahoda Visiting Fellowship (2021), Andrew Pakes investigated ‘The new normal – worker experiences of digital surveillance’.
Andrew is the research director and deputy general secretary at Prospect Union. He joined Digit as a Marie Jahoda Visiting Fellow in 2021 to research worker experiences of digital surveillance during the pandemic. He helps lead Prospect’s work on digital technology and the future of work with an interest in how economic change impacts workers. His research is now looking at how trade unions are responding to member interests and concerns about technological change. His other research interests include the Right To Disconnect and worker voice. He is also a member of the OECD’s AI Expert Panel and the TUC’s AI Working Group.
