
Background
Abbie is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Employment Relations, Innovation and Change. Previously, she was a research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, which she joined after completing her PhD at the University of Manchester (under the supervision of Digit co-leads Debra Howcroft and Jill Rubery).
Her main interests include issues related to inequalities, the future of work, sociotechnical change and job quality. Abbie’s doctoral thesis explored employment change in the food retail sector and the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. Similarly, Abbie’s current project (Humans in Digital Logistics) seeks to understand how digital technologies shape work and employment conditions in warehouses in Europe.
