Abbie is a research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies where she joined after completing her PhD at the University of Manchester (under the supervison of Digit co-leads Debra Howcroft and Jill Rubery). Her main interests include issues related to inequalities, the future of work, sociotechnical change and job quality. Abbie’s doctoral thesis explored employment change in the food retail sector and the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. This project aimed to demonstrate how existing social structures shape the nature of work and how this could have implications for the future of work and equalities within the sector.
